Bylaw Enforcement Officer

BYLAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

The Town of Athabasca Bylaw Enforcement Officer is committed to serving the community by promoting compliance with Town bylaws through education, communication, and enforcement.

The Bylaw Enforcement Officer is responsible for investigating complaints and enforcing Town bylaws, with a primary focus on matters such as animal control, unsightly properties, and other community standards issues. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer may also assist with business licence enforcement and other municipal regulatory matters as required.

The Bylaw Enforcement Officer works closely with Town administration, other municipal departments, and the Athabasca RCMP where appropriate. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer's authority is limited to the powers granted under applicable legislation and Town bylaws and should not be confused with the broader authority of RCMP officers.

FILING A BYLAW OR VIOLATION COMPLAINT

Residents wishing to report a potential bylaw violation or request assistance with a municipal bylaw matter should contact the Town of Athabasca at 780-675-2063.

Complaints are reviewed and addressed based on the nature and priority of the matter. Where appropriate, the Town may investigate, provide education or direction, issue notices or orders, or take other enforcement action in accordance with applicable bylaws and legislation.

For matters involving criminal activity or situations requiring police assistance, contact the Athabasca RCMP at 780-675-5122. In an emergency, call 911.
