Recycling Program
New Recycling Program Starting October 1, 2026
Athabasca's residential recycling program is changing effective October 1, 2026.
Your regular recycling collection day is not changing. Please continue to put your recycling out on your usual collection day by 7:00 a.m.
Under the new program:
- Residents will need to provide their own clear or blue see-through recycling bags.
- Recycling bins will not be used.
- Recyclables should be placed loose inside the recycling bag.
- Recycling bags must not exceed 20 kg (44 lb) or 184 L.
- A wider range of materials will be accepted for recycling, including glass containers, foam packaging, plastic bags and film, stand-up pouches, snack wrappers and empty aerosol containers.
Please ensure containers are empty, clean and dry before placing them in your recycling.
